New research done by the National Association of Realtors and has noted that the amenities that buyers are most interested in are changing. For example, people are quite attached to central air and private outdoor space, but are not as into stainless steel appliances as they used to be. These preferences also differ greatly by generation, and change depending on if the person surveyed was a renter or owner. Other amenities that ranked high on the list were guest rooms, in-unit washer and dryers, and pet-friendly building policies.
